Hello, I’m Rebecca.

I’m a hockey/sports coach and a mental health advocate. I began sharing my story of depression back in 2015 after years of hiding my diagnosis. With a love of story telling and creative arts, I filmed a short documentary “I am Rebecca,” which I used to start conversations in local schools and organisations around mental health. I share my story to offer hope and spread understanding, and specifically to provide young people with the confidence to reach out for help. We all deserve to feel known, seen, heard and understood. Now with an MSc in Physical Activity and Mental Health, I hope to use my knowledge and experience to change lives.

I hope my honesty will allow others to feel safer and give them permission to ask for help. We are all navigating our way through our own paths, going through things nobody sees and holding onto trauma invisible to the eye. We shouldn’t filter how we feel, power through or sacrifice our health, we should go against the grain and prioritise ourselves. I hope you can join me and my team as I learn, grow and steer my way through life.

Never underestimate the power of communication, in whatever form that is. My story began when I wrote on a piece of paper “I think I have depression,” and handed it over to my doctor. It’s never too late to find hope.

Rebecca.
